GET POLISHED- "Find What You Love" Chevrons

Hey there!! HAPPY FRIDAY!!
I don't know about you, but this week flew by real quick for me!

Today I have this cute chevron mani to share with you.
I, along side many other talented local beauty bloggers are going to be helping out at a Nail Art Workshop put on by Metropolis at Metrotown this weekend!!
There are 3 workshops in total, and this weekend June 22 and 23 marks the first one.

Check out the link to this event!
This event is by donation, benefiting an organization called Beauty Night .
There are prizes to be won, and all in all, a spectacular time! So if you're located in the Lower Mainland, make sure you come and take advantage of this FUN event!
We will be demonstrating the mani seen above...and oh....did I mention that there are swag bags involved?
YES!

With participation, you will receive 3 mini polishes, 1 mini Seche Vite top coat, emery board, and other fun stuff!!

About the mani...

For this mani, I used:
China Glaze- Flip Flop Fantasy, Highlight of My Summer (LOVE), and ORLY Luxe.

Since we all know my love for all things bright and obnoxious, I don't think I need to explain the reasoning behind my colour choices...haha

A little bit about Highlight of My Summer...I've been searching for the perfect MINT forever...and this colour totally satisfies my mint craving. The only thing that throws me off a little is that the formula of this is VERY streaky....it does not apply smoothly like the other neon cremes I own from China Glaze :(
Anyone else experiencing the same thing?

Regardless, the mani turned out well. I am quite pleased with the colour combination!

This can be done either freehand or with those Ring Enforcers. Lindsay at Nail Art By Lindsay has a great video tutorial on how to achieve this!

That's all for me today! Hope to see some of you lovely people this weekend!

Have a wonderful day, lovers!

Mehndi Inspired Mani + Nail School Update

HELLO LOVES!!
It's been a week since we last saw each other! I hope your week was awesome.
Today I have a Mehndi inspired mani for you.

What does Mehndi look like?

(source: Henna Designs)

According to Wikipedia:
Mehndi, also known as Henna tattoos, is another form of temporary tattoo. Coming from a south Asian tradition, henna uses a paste made from the powdered leaves of the Henna plant, Lawsonia inermis. Traditional henna is drawn in delicate patterns on the hands and feet, but modern henna is applied in all sorts of designs anywhere on the body. Henna tattoos can last days to over a month depending on application and aftercare.

I used Orly's Ingenue and white acrylic paint for this look.
I was trolling the discontinued bin at my local beauty supply store the other day and found this pretty little thing...I was never really an Orly fan...because for whatever reason, I always seem to end up with a bottle with crappy brush...but when I saw this I knew I had to rescue it from being sent back to factory.
LOL at least that's what I believe they do...yes...let's just go with that!

Surprisingly, the brush wasn't faulty!!
This polish applied smoothly unlike all my other Orly polishes.
Ingue is a wine coloured sheer polish packed with fine gold sparkles.

Unfortunately, this polish didn't look so great on me. But I would imagine it look amazing on someone with a lighter complexion?
Although I thought this polish for a Mehndi inspired mani was appropriate, because the Indian culture is full of beautiful, rich colours such as this polish.

I know this mani is no where near the amount of details on an actual Mehndi...but I wanted to see if it was doable, and of course it was!
I think I will attempt this again and include more details, with a darker colour.

:)

Hope you enjoyed this mani!

*Nail School Update*

So it's been officially a month yesterday since I started Nail School!
I'm not sure if it's a good thing or not, but I feel like I've been in school longer than that?! haha
Here's a brief summary of what's happened thus far:

We had homework everyday...and tests every OTHER day....

We had to do crosswords and word searches, and I discovered that I look like 12.....still.

We learned how to properly set up our manicure station, and I experienced my first MAN-icure

...and of course, we learned about properly disinfecting implements...so important!
This week, I performed my first official manicure for a walk-in client while the class (11 people) observed. The client was nice enough to tip me $2 dolla!! I'm RICH!! :D

Lastly, just yesterday, I did a manicure on the set of hands that matters most! My MAMA <3

That's all for me today! Sorry for the photo-bomb!
Hope you all have an awesome weekend! <3

Nude Tribals

Hello my lovelies! Today I'm very excited to show you my RAWR Claws!!
I finally got them put back on! It was only 2 weeks that I had sausage fingers....2 weeks too long.

So last Thursday, I had the honour to meet Steph from Haus Of LacquerTurned out that she didn't live too far away! So I set up an appointment with her to put an end to the breakfast sausage fingers!

Look how pretty....!!!  *O*
Steph was kind enough to offer Shellac on the gels, so I went with something workplace friendly.
This is Shellac in Cocoa. Topped off with an Orly Gel topcoat to give it that extra shine. Cocoa is such a sophisticated nude, and I think it goes with my skin tone quite well.

She is officially my nail hero. So make sure you check her out!!

Needless to say, I was swooning all over these!
After some great laugh and awesome chat, I left her place with my *SQUEE* talons, inspired and ready to WERK!

like this...

Back to this mani!
I like this nude shade so much I didn't want to put anything on there, but I finally got around to it!

Craving for some details, I decided to go with Tribal inspired prints! I used acrylic paint for everything.
I kept the details to a minimal as I wanted them to compliment the nude.
I'm quite happy with the way these turned out. I'd have to say my favourite is my pinky!

So now that I have the nails back on, I'm really looking forward to being able to do more on them!
MUST. DO. GRADIENT!

:)
That's all for me today, hope you enjoyed these as much as I did doing them!

Have a lovely day, friends!!
