Gel II Reaction Gel Polish: Fanta-Sea Breeze

HEY GUYS!!!
Today I have a thermal colour changing gel polish I'd like to share with you!

This is Fanta-Sea Breeze by Gel II. It's a no base required gel polish, the formula is great and it definitely saves me some time without having to put on a base coat.

I added some alien crop circle lines to my blank canvases, and some glitter for the ring finger
(because obviously)

When it's cold, it turns into this bluish-purple colour, and a shimmery pink when it's warm.
Applied on the right length of natural nails, it looks like a perfect gradient!

I have prepared for you a play by play of how this gel polish works:

BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE!
I thought you might want to see it in action, so I prepared a VIDEOOOO!!!
It's SUPER glitchy near the end...this was the best out of the 345683924 versions lol It goes with the music so I guess it's not TOO TOO bad :P

Anyhow, that's all for me today!!
HAVE THE MOST AWESOMEST DAY!

The Beach Is THAT Way

OMG, it's me again!! and you didn't have to wait 2 months to hear from me this time! PROGRESS!
HELLO MY LOVES!

The weather has finally gotten better the last couple of days...
It's actually starting to feel like Summer!
I've been dying to try the beachy theme mani for AGES! So to celebrate the nice weather, here's what I'm wearing today!

PS. Oh yea...I have nubbies...

I've been REALLY OBSESSED with Nail Labo's Presto Gel since I got back from the IBS Show...
I blacked out when I visited that booth...and grabbed everything and anything I could get my hands on...
because unfortunately, they don't deliver to Canada :(

So for this mani, here is what I mainly used:

Product List
Presto Gel- #144 Volante
Presto Gel- A01 White Art Get
Sea Shell Charms from Nail Labo USA
Light Elegance- Disco Bling
Microbeads/turquoise stone/rhinestones- EBAY

The Presto White Art Gel. THE PRESTO WHITE ART GEL!!!!
If you follow me on Instagram, you would have heard me rave about it already...BUT SERIOUSLY...
WHERE HAS THIS BEEN ALL MY NAIL LIFE!?!?

I used it to draw fine lines like THIS:

Can I just say, that I drew these lines with my NON DOMINANT hand?! Yea. I love you white art gel.
Also, I'm quite proud of the shell beds I built with acrylic.
I may or may not be petting it at this very moment....

That's all for me today!
Hope you enjoyed this mani as much as I did doing it ^_^

Have the BEST weekend, lovers!

Is It Summer Yet?

WOW It's been forever!
I hope you've all been super. Apologies for the lack of presence, but know that I think of you everyday!

Now...I don't know about you, but I have HAD IT with this wishy washy Sprinter weather! So today I have a mumbo jumbo spring/summer mani for you, in hopes that the sun would finally come out to play! Now we all know my love for obnoxious things, and this mani is all that and MOAR! and omg both hands!

I gave myself clear claws. I lasted 5 weeks with the nubs, be proud of me everybody! Now I just have to re-learn how to do everything...hahaha!
All the details here you see are done with Acrylic paint and sealed with a gel top coat. I also encapsulated some micro beads, and studs in the clear tips...not sure if it's visible.

That's all for me today! I hope you enjoyed today's mani.

Have the MOST wonderful day, my loves!

Mara Hoffman Inspired- Black/Gold

HAYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!
Yes it's true. I got nubs again.
Trust that before I finally ended up with this shape, I had squares > rounds > back to square > squovals > round....and now I have this almondy shape looking thing. lol

It's been 2 weeks since we last saw each other. What's new guys?!
Today I have this Mara Hoffman inspired mani for you. I want pretty much one (or maybe 7) of everything of hers. I drew inspiration from this dress, particularly the black spikes.

I decided not to incorporate any colours into this mani because I love me some black/gold/nude combo!
I used black acrylic paint and a gold striper polish.

For the ring finger, I added this awesome stud.
You guys, I feel really special with this stud, because hardcore fierce!
As for the thumb- I wanted it to be more detailed because it's the most space I get on these nubs.
Here's a closer look:

Then I sealed the mani with my new favourite topcoat:

That's all for me today!! I hope you enjoyed this mani as much as I did doing it ^_^

Have an awesome weekend, my loves!

Bio Seaweed- Seaside

Hey lovers, HAPPY HUMP DAY!
Today I have this gel mani to show you. I'm not quite sure what to call it?

The base of this mani was done with Bio Seaweed- Seaside.
This gel polish is an oceany blue with a tint of green in it. Depending on how the light hits it, the colour shows up differently. I say this because under the Ott Lite, the colour seemed so much more blue....now that I'm looking at it in normal daylight, it looks more green than blue?

...maybe I'm just colour blind...
I played with the filters a little bit just so I could do a quick comparison...

Ott Lite (L) vs. Normal Daylight (R)

O_o

Regardless, I am beyond impressed with how pretty it is.

This pattern, it was inspired by NAILGURLNYC's awesome Instagram post a LONG LONG LONG time ago. If you don't know who she is....PLEASE go and soak in her awesomeness.

Here are a few new goodies I used to achieve in this mani:

This foil:

These iridescent rhinestones:

That's all for me today!
Hope you enjoyed this mani as much as I did making it.

Have the MOST wonderful day, my lovelies!

Monochrome Floral

HAYYYYY!!!
Happy Friday, lovers! Today I have a short post for you.

I got a chance to play with Bio Seaweed's 3 Step Soak Off Gel yesterday. This is Peony:

This gel polish has a high viscosity- and is LED/UV curable. Coverage is great, fully opaque in two coats.
So pretty right? I KNOW!
I almost didn't want to cover it up...but you know me...it never stays plain for very long lol
Floral print just seems so very suiting with this colour!

*product provided for review, opinions are my own. Also rainbows and unicorns and all that good stuff!

That's all for me today!
Have a wonderful weekend, my darlings!

Pizza, that is all

Yes, you are seeing correctly...that, in fact, is a giant pizza on a nail.
WHY PIZZA?

I love pizza.
It provides comfort, satisfies hunger...and pretty much covers the whole food pyramid....
HAHAHA It's my brain food when I'm doing intense nail art sessions!!

no...I don't look nearly as fierce as those lips when I eat pizza...
But in my mind, that's how it feels when I consume this magical piece of triangle looking thing...

PS.
CAN'T. STOP. MAKING. GIFS.
...you give me something I like, I will abuse until it's broken...
(and then I'll get a new one)

OH! If you're interested, here is the step by step:

Well, that's all for me today. Thank you for putting up with my randomness!

HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY, LOVERS!

Bob the Unicorn

HAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!
So I was sitting at my nail table last night...wishing I had a pet unicorn.
and then this happened...

EVERYBODY THIS IS BOB!

I used IBD Just Gel- Whipped Cream and Ivory Tower which adds a subtle shimmer to the white base. And of course, I had to press glitter onto the ring finger.
Look how *special* he looks...hahahahahahaha

I used acrylic paint to draw the details for all of this. They are such wonderful things.
This mani makes me giggle, and now I really want a unicorn so we can do all the magical things together.

Random post, I know...
^_^

Have the best day EVAR, my lovelies!!

OPI Push and Shove

Hello my loves!!!
Today I have something VERY special to show you.
This is OPI's Push and Shove from the latest Gwen Stefani collection.

As the package states, it creates a metallic chrome effect with a mirror finish...I knew I HAD to have it when I saw the "mirror" part!
The package comes with a full size bottle as well as a free mini bottle of "Lay Down that Base"
It also says NOT to apply topcoat to this polish, and that it's suppose to only last one day.

WELL...this sparked ALL KINDS of questions in my head.
-WHY do you have to use this base?
- do I HAVE to use this base?
-WHAT happens when I run out of that mini bottle?
-WHY can't I apply topcoat?
-does it really only last one day?

WONDER NO MORE FRIENDS!
After some extensive research (by extensive I really mean a lot of apply, removal, reapply), I have put together a little presentation. This is like...a science project...why can't science be like this in school?!

First off, the best result I got was from after a layer of...

GEL TOP COAT AS BASE
Gel Top Coat| &S- 2 coats | Lay Down that Base- NONE

SUPER WIN!!!!
I LOVE THIS I LOVE THIS I LOVE THIS I LOVE THIS!
7350920324938293 THUMBS UP!

Look how chromey and mirrorey it looks under different lighting!!!!!

It looks even more reflective in person, and be prepared to be distracted AT ALL TIMES.
I can almost see my camera in some of these pictures...how awesome is that?!
I feel like a walking stainless steel fridge!!! WHOOT!!!!

Buffed w/o Base
P&S- 2 coats | Lay Down that Base- NONE

So after that I figured that this polish requires a SMOOTH surface, because you can pretty much see all the flaws and bumps with it on. Then I buffed my nails with a buffer to see if it would adhere to a matte surface.

As you can see. It's not pretty. It did NOT have a mirror finish...and you can clearly see all the buff marks.
I've actually have mixed results with this...the other time I applied it, it had sort of a "crackle" effect...needless to say, this is not the most ideal application. Therefore not recommended!

Buffed WITH Lay Down that Base
P&S- 2 coats | Lay Down that Base- 1 coat

I then removed the existing polish and applied Lay Down that Base to my buffed nails. It is crucial that you wait until this base coat is completely dry to move on to the next step!

Not bad right? Except it's still not what I would really consider a "mirror" effect. As you can STILL spot buff marks upon closer inspection.

With a different BASE COAT
P&S- 1 coat | Seche Clear Basecoat- 1 coat

Then you're probably all wondering...so what happens if I use a different base coat than the one provided?

NOPE, NOPE and hmm....let me think....
NOPE.
(I'm actually getting kind of dizzy from this gif...)

SECHE VITE as TOP COAT
P&S- 2 coats | Lay Down that Base- 1 coat | Seche Vite Top coat- 1 coat

Let's face it...the more someone says NOT to do something, the more you want to do it.
So here I go...and in fact, the package was right....it dulls the shine, and no longer has a mirror effect.
So sorry guys, this one's a doozy.

OKAY! So at this point I was pretty much ugly crying because Lay Down the Base is a REALLY SMALL BOTTLE! and I see myself wearing this A LOT, because SHINY!
Then it dawned on me....

Seche Vite Top coat as BASE COAT
Seche Vite as base- 1 coat | P&S- 2 coats

Again...be sure to wait until the base coat is COMPLETELY dried to move on to P&S
AH-HA!!!!!!!!

This is almost the same shiny mani as the gel coat!!! The conclusion is that this polish requires an ULTRA glossy smooth base for the effect to take place. and so, VOILA! Problem solved. Use Seche Vite as base!

And of course, I couldn't just let you go without some nail art...

A few things....
- Make sure each layer is dried before moving on to the next
- This polish dries fast! So if you're doing nail art with it, work fast!
- Minimal tip wear is present after a whole day of typing
-  Practice your brush strokes...as it shows in your final product

Well that's all for me today...if I left out anything you would like to know about this polish, feel free to leave a comment...or send me a love mail!

Hope you enjoyed what I put together for you today.
HAVE THE MOST WONDERFUL DAY, LOVERS!
