Going Tropical with REVLON Brilliant Strength

HAIII!!
I hope you're all having a good week so far! We're almost at FRIDAY, so hang in there!
Today I have this tropical mani, as well as some swatches to show you!

Thanks to Revlon Canada, I had the pleasure to try these babies out:
Before I start bombarding you with AWESOME pictures, I have to say...
The.  formula. is. AMAZING!

From Revlon's website
Strengthening formula with built-in base and top coat for stronger, harder, knockout nails.
Brilliant Strength™ Nail Enamel packs a powerful punch of colour, leaving nails feeling harder, stronger and more resilient.
This all-in-one formula has built-in base & top coat with an innovative combination of lotus & pearl extract, ginseng extract, camellia oil & rice bran oil.

Available in 18 knockout shades

Oh, they're knockouts alright! All pictures I'm about to show you is without a top coat, I couldn't believe the amount of shine they possess. They are about $6.99 CAD depending on where you go. Which isn't bad considering that it eliminates the use of top and base coat. One thing I'd like to RAVE about besides the new awesome formula, is that with this collection, WIDE applicator BRUSHES are used.
That made my heart MEGA happy.

So let's get on with it! First up we have...
-Embody-

This is the most sheer out of all the ones I got. The picture above shows 2 coats under artificial sunlight.
I can see someone using this for jelly-sandwiches. It is also ideal for business professionals who can't wear too much colours on their nails in an office environment.
Overall, a very elegant sheer coat!

-Allure-

I absolutely adore this shade! Allure is the type of colour I would recommend on a bride for her big day. It's super versatile as to when and where to wear it. I can see myself reaching for this bottle REALLY often.
This pastel pink comes with purple shimmer, creating a subtle opalescence effect. Hard to capture on camera, but really pretty! See?

-Entice-

So...I'm not much of a green girl....But LOOK AT THIS ONE!!!
I would totally wear this colour again. With two coats (as seen in photo above), the colour becomes more rich. It has a creamy consistency, and provides a really nice and even coverage.

-Mesmerize-

I'm a sucker for a good blue polish, and this, my friends, made me *grabby hands*
The consistency of it is sort of half way between a jelly and a creme....Je-rem-ly? lol yea, that.
It took 2 coats to achieve complete opacity. I love how bright it is, because it's ME we're talking about here.

-Provoke-

*deep breath*
I LURVE LURVE LURVE LURVE LUUUUUURRRRRRRVE THIS COLOUR!
It's SO PRETTY I did a dance across my room after putting it on.
Okay.
So this shade was made so well, that I almost got away with putting only ONE coat on.
But being the good girl that I am, I did two coats ...and it was no surprise that I love it TWICE as much!

-Inflame-

Guys, this colour is something FIERCE!!!! I am quite amazed at how much this colour popped. It is a deep orange (to the point you could almost mistaken it for a bright red). As suggested, 2 coats to perfection.
I feel like a rock star when I put this on. You know how removing these vibrant colours could often be a drag? I had ZERO staining issues with this one. *LOVE*

-Seduce-

They named this one Seduce, and SEDUCE it did! This red is CLASSIC! It's vibrant enough to catch attention, yet deep enough to create almost a mysterious feel!
Am I still talking about polishes? YES!
Besides Provoke, this was the other colour that could almost pull off with just one coat. I will definitely be wearing this again. (like everything else mentioned in this post!)

SO! You know I couldn't just leave it at that.
I decided to use most of these polishes to create a design, so I went with a tropical theme!
I had it like this at first...

But I felt like it was missing something...so I added some black outline, and some white flowers.

Et VOILA!
It feels like they could be on someone's swim trunks...hahaha!!

LAST BUT NOT LEAST!
I've mentioned this before, but would like to emphasize!
REVLON Canada is holding a Nail Art Contest!!
So go on and submit your photos for your chance to win EVERY COLOUR!

Have a wonderful day, m'loves!!

Revlon: Express Yourself!

Hey friends!! Hope you all had an awesome weekend!
If you're located in Canada, hope you celebrated Canada Day with loved ones and a cool beverage!
The weather this weekend was AMAZING!

Today I have a random but not so random mani to share with you! Now if you recall, I have always been a fan of REVLON products. In fact, that's what got me started doing nail art in the first place! So you can imagine the level of my excitement when I was contacted by them to try these babies out.

So let's get started! To achieve the mani, I used the following products:

REVLON Nail Art Neon- Pink Glow*
REVLON Nail Art Expressionist- Night & Degas*

I used Pink Glow to create the gradient, and the neon pink as base for my ring finger.
Then I put on the black in Night & Degas for the V Shape on 4 of my fingers. I almost stopped there!!
But then because I am me, I had to add on more details with my thin striper brush. Obviously.

The ring finger- The brush of the white end  in Night & Degas comes in thin striper form. So I used that end to create the peacock feather design. To finish, I used my thin striper brush to add on details with the black end.

The formula for these is smooth and ever so easy to apply! It only took 2 thin coats for the pink to become completely opaque. The brushes are a good size, 2-3 strokes to cover a nail.
The only thing about these is that if you're clumsy like me, you'll have to be extra careful with the colour you're working with due to the size of the bottle. Let's just say I had a few close calls of knocking the whole thing over... >_< But other than that, working with these was a breeze!

Like these Nail Art collections?
REVLON is having a nail art contest! You can enter once per day, so head on over for your chance to win EVERY colour! This contest doesn't end until July 31st, so you have a whole month to enter! So be sure to get on it, because I know you all have something epic up your sleeves!

Well folks, that's all for me today! Hope you enjoy this mani as much as I did making it!

Have a FANTABULOUS day, my loves!

...Karma...

Hello my loves!!
If you follow me on Twitter, you would know that I've been super bummed...because my car got broken into last week, and they took ALL my belongings I packed for a weekend trip :(

So this one's for you, car thieves...
Hope you enjoy my pretty clothes and essential makeup I wear everyday...

For this mani, I used the following:
Revlon- Royal
China Glaze- Aquadelic
OPI- Every Month Is Octoberfest

...and this effect top coat from Color Club...
(I forgot to grab the name of it)

I quite like how this turned out, actually....so that's one positive thing out of this whole schlob of unfortunate event.

I hope KARMA finds you....whoever you are....

Have a wonderful day, my loves!

The RAWR Shop- Mystical Unicorn

Hello lovers and friends, today I'm very excited to show you my latest creation.

Mystical Unicorn

I had the pleasure to meet the awesome Donna off Twitter, and yesterday we finally got together to put some "RAWR" on her nails. Twitter is pretty amazing for bringing people together, I must say!!
We chatted for some time, and decided on the following colours:

China Glaze- Fairy Dust
Rimmel London- Wild Orchid
Revlon- Fashionista

and VOILA! The Mystical Unicorn was born!

Donna has the cutest nails!
She was worried that they might be too small for nail art but look what we have accomplished!
We originally only had the two colours without the Fairy Dust. But during our chat she mentioned that she was into fantasy/mystic novels. I thought adding the Fairy Dust was necessary.

After finishing off with Fairy Dust, I told Donna that I feel like I need to draw a unicorn on her because it looked so magical....lol
(PS- I drew this unicorn freehand. You should all be very proud.)

"I fart rainbows!!"
-Donna's interpretation. lol

What a beautiful gradient this turned out to be. I might even have to try this on myself when I heal :D

Thanks Donna for visiting the RAWR shop!
I hope you return soon :D

RAWR SHOP- Cosmic Pink Nails aka. SQUEE!

Impromptu visits by Dani @ Call It Beauty are always fun.
She was supposed to come over to watch Tangled with me last night...but we ended up doing THIS!

We had no idea what we were going to do going in....except for one thing:
We're going to use China Glaze's- Fairy Dust.
It was a unanimous decision that it looks best over black, so we went ahead with it.
and then we saw this picture:

I downloaded this app on my phone called "Nail Art" (don't laugh at me)
It displays random pictures of nail art....and provides hours of fun.

SO! To achieve this look, I used the following:

Revlon- Bubble Gum, Rimmel- Black Satin, China Glaze- Fairy Dust

Since I have the Sponging Queen over, I took a lesson from her on sponging.
This was definitely a joint effort!
After the sponging, we decided to put a coat of Fairy Dust on top.
LOOK. AT. THIS. GRADIENT!

So Dani and I SQUEE'd through the whole thing. I'm not sure if the chemicals smell  from the polish had anything to do with it. But we were UBER excited to say the least.

*sigh*
AHLUVET! AHLUVET! AHLUVET!

Thank you for letting me play with your nails, once again.
You're the best <3

Canucks Nails- Playoff Set 1

Hello my dear darlings!
Today is an exciting day for hockey fans in Vancouver BC:
The Vancouver Canucks' first game in the Stanley Cup Playoff!!!
So to celebrate, I have decided that I'm going to be doing multiple sets of Canucks Nails!

I hold this dear to my heart, as I finally figured out when I FIRST got into nail art....
it was around this time, during the last round of playoffs! Look at the difference...

Then <     ---     > Now

Needless to say, my nail polish addiction collection has grown immensely since then.
I feel a tear coming on...lol

Anyhoo-
Here are the polishes I used:

XXI's Metallic Blue, Some random asian blue polish I bought in Taiwan, Revlon's Royal, Magical Nail, and white acrylic paint.

 To my non-hockey loves.....
blue green and white make a great colour combo, don't you think? =D

I'm going to the game this Friday!! So there will definitely be more coming...
I'll have to think of something outrageous for the actual game
I'm UBER excited!

SO HERE IT IS! SET 1!

Hope you enjoyed my Canucks Nails as much as enjoyed doing them!!

Are you a hockey fan?
Would LURVE to see your nail designs for your team!!

Until next time, my lovelies!!

Leaves and Petals

Good morning my loves, and a very happy Wednesday to you.
The week is half over! Two more days until FREEDOM!!!!

Today I have this semi elegant design on my nails. I was reading through a magazine during the day and saw this colour scheme on an interior design...thought I'd give it a shot....on my nails.
The leaves and petals...they kind of came up randomly....
I often just do what my head tells me to do at the moment.

I used Revlon's Smoky Canvas...

I can't get enough of this colour. I'm actually thinking about painting my house this beigey-grey colour.
Anyway, back to the polish- It applies smoothly, and is opaque in ONE coat!!! JUST ONE!!

Then I added on the details with white acrylic paint (+ purple on the thumb).
I'm still experimenting with them...but the outcome of these turned out quite satisfying.

This is subtle enough for me to wear to work...I think.
I had a full on glitter-tastic mani last week, and my boss looked at them and *shuddered
LOL

Well, that's it for me today! I hope you enjoyed this mani as much as I did making it.
Have a wonderful day, m'loves!!

Hunger Games Inspired Mani- Effie Trinket

HAPPY FRIDAY LOVERS!!!

Who else is excited about the movie coming out today?!
Today I have a Hunger Games inspired mani. Specifically by Effie Trinket.
I haven't seen the movie yet, but oh my, just her screen shots alone is jaw dropping.

Check out her lashes!!!!

To achieve the above look, I used the following:
Urban Outfitters- Bandeau
Revlon- Passion Fruit
"5 STARS"- Gold and Red Sparkles (no name)

I picked up the 5 STARS polish in a beauty store in little Saigon in San Francisco
get this...it was $0.50!!!!
I picked it up because it was...well shiny....and cheap....HAHA can't go wrong there.
Then I just realized that it sort of looks like China Glaze's Hunger Games collection: Electrify
 Double score!

Now on to the mani....
I did a purple gradient on the nail with Passion Fruit and Bandeau, and drew on some black lines to mimic her awesome lashes....the lines didn't turn out as nice as I hoped though :(

Then I dabbed on the gold and red sparkles on the corner, and dotted them on the rest of the nail.

Well that's it for today! Hope you enjoy this mani as much as I did doing it!

How many of you are going to brave the crowd this weekend to see the movie?

Have a great weekend, loverlies!
<3
