My first nail gig!

Well, yesterday was a fun day!
It was my first ever nail gig, and guess which genius brought the camera, but left the memory card at home
(Hint: It was me... -__-)

So thanks to modern technology, I snapped a few photos with my crap phone.
My apologies in advance for the quality.

This was our set up at the concert. The plants behind us gave our station a tropical feel.

The "menu"

Unfortunately, this was about as much action I saw all night...

Then it was decided that I need those pants. STAT. I plan to wear it to my next gig.
Then Denise and I spent the rest of the night eating these:

End of the night, we had zero customers, but I did manage to give away 3 business cards...
Not bad for a first gig, I suppose?

ONTO THE NEXT ONE, I SAY!!

Neon Leopards

Hello my love-loves!
If you've been following this blog, you'd know what today is.....it's MONDAY!!!!

*haha!! i kid!!*

I'm going to be a big girl and do people's nails today at a concert!!
But of course, I gotta figure out my own nails first right? right.
So I combined all my favourites so far this summer: Gradients, Neon brights, and Leopard prints

Exclusive 5 stars- Pink Glitter
Daisy Nail Lacque- Sun Glasses, Please!
Color Club- Wham! Pow!
OPI- DS Magic
Magical Nail art polish- Gold Glitter

I'm not sure if I'm over excited/nervous, or the camera just couldn't handle the awesomeness...most of my pictures for this mani turned out blurry...lol

I used Sun Glasses, Please, Wham! Pow!, and Pink Glitter to create the gradient. Then I drew on the leopard prints, and filled it with Gold Glitter, and DS Magic.

Speaking of shiny... look at my cards!!!!! =D

So wish me luck!!
Stay tuned for my first nail RAWR-ing experience!

Business Card Debut + DS Magic

BEHOLD!!
...My business cards...

-front 1-

-front 2-

-back-

Happy Friday, lovelies!! Today I'd like to share with you some exciting news!!

A while back, I had the honour to meet Denise, from DEEZ NAILS, via Twitter.
After sharing our addiction passion for nail art, I was approached by her with an exciting opportunity.
I'm going to be working along side Deez Nails at a concert this coming Monday!

*cue squeeeeeee*

Given that I have no experience whatsoever,
I'm so thankful that Denise the pro is taking her chances on me...haha <3
Needless to say, I'm pretty nervous....okay I'm SUPER nervous... But I'm hoping that once I start working, it'll just be easy breezy (beautiful cover girl?) from there on!

Though I'm not exactly sure where I'm going with this addiction of mine,
these cards make me feel like this is what I should really be doing with my life...lol

---------------------------------------------------------

Now, enough of the gushy stuff. LOOK AT THIS!!!

I was having a bad day at work yesterday...so I decided to treat myself to something nice...
Since I had to go to the beauty supply store for things to fix my nail disaster... I bought this!

OPI's DS Magic

It was a little more than what I usually spend on nail polishes... ($7.95) but I didn't care...
The multi-chrome holographic awesomeness won me over....This polish consists of  blue sparkles, and purple holo shimmers, soaked in a sheer blue base.

Then I threw on NYC's Matte Me Crazy over top....

0_o

LOOK. HOW. PRETTY!

That's all for me today, now I shall float away with my DS nails.
*weeeeee*

Tribal Frenzy

Good morning, lovers and friends!
Who doesn't like a little randomness in their lives? Well....for me...I like A LOT of randomness.

That is probably why my nails look like this all the time-->
yea....random....

What was involved?
Rimmel London- Black Satin
Daisy Nail Lacquer- Sun Glasses, Please!
Color Club- Wild Child, Wham! Pow!, Age of Aquarius

You should see some of these designs on the business card I'm debuting tomorrow (!!!)

Excitement!

un-ProfessioNAIL

I have something I'd like to share with my readers....

A week ago, I went to a nail salon in my local mall (Metrotown, Burnaby) called ProfessioNAIL
I was looking to get the RAWR Claws refilled. I specifically asked for gel refills because that's what I had on, and I liked that they're strong enough to withstand the use of acetone.

"Gel? I use gel powder for you, it's much better!" said the lady.
While I had doubts of my own, I went with what she said, because after all...she does it for a living right?
WRONG.

I removed my polish and this happened:

The "gel powder" she was referring to...was acrylic powder. Which costs way less.
So basically, what they do to everyone that walks in there is do their nails with acrylic, and then a layer of gel top coat....and then they charge you WAY more because it's "gel powder"

HELLO SCAM!!!

So anyway, I went back yesterday to the lady and showed her my nails. She gave me the death stare, buffed down the "bumps" while mumbling to her coworker something I don't understand...and told me:
"you applied your nail polish too hard! all you have to do is buff!"

Now tell me....
How does one apply nail polish too hard?

I'd like to know
-__-

Anyway. If you're in the Vancouver, BC area....
DO NOT step foot into ProfessioNAIL....unless you really have to.....

Two Toned Butt Cheeks

My goodness, is it Wednesday already?

Since I vowed to take a break from Gradients....Here we have today is what I'd like to call "Butt cheeks"
I'm not exactly sure what the technical term for this design is...but they look like butt prints LOL

I used the following polishes:

China Glaze- For Audrey
Color Club- Age of Aquarius

I've been digging a lot of blues lately....and when I saw For Audrey on Call It Beauty, I HAD to have it.

Butt Cheeks usually are completely apart, with space in the middle...but I decided to make the two colours touch at the top because I wanted to see what it's like side by side.

Turned out to be quite nice!
This mani is simple, subtle, with just enough *Fabulousness*
Perfect for a sunny day!!

What's on your nails today?

Tribal Astronaut

HAPPY FRIDAY!!
Today I have another gradient....yes...I know....that's 3 in a row....but look how pretty!
I've been sponging with nail polishes for the last two and wondered if Acrylic paint would create the same effect.... Well of course it will....duh...lol

So I put on a white polish as base and sponged with the following:

Then I added on the tribal details using a striper brush, and white acrylic paint.

I'm so happy with the way this turned out!! This makes my gradient loving heart really happy!!
I think that's it for gradients for a while....

....maybe....

Have a fantastic weekend, everyone!!

Gradient Claws

Hello lovers and friends!!
Hope you're all having the best Thursday, ever.
While we're all crazy about gradient, I figure, why not another one?

So here it is!
To achieve the above look, I used the following:

China Glaze- For Audrey, Color Club- Age of Aquarius, Zoya- Cynthia
A sponge, and Black and Silver acrylic paint for the lines.

I've been craving a lot of bright and obnoxious colours lately....and Age of Aquarius makes me happy
This mani makes the RAWR Claws look so....claw-y....
(does that make sense?)

Here's a shot with For Audrey...LOVE this colour (with Domo photo-bombing in the background)

I feel so evil with this mani.....
MWAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHHAHAHA
*evil laugh*

Random moment of the day:
So I was watching the last Harry Potter movie yesterday....and I noticed THIS:

VOLDEMORT HAS STILETTO NAILS?!
That is all...

Have a good day, everyone!

Part of your *gradient* world

HAPPY FRIDAY LOVERS!!
Here we have a glittery gradient....that I felt was too pretty to put anything on top....
So today, these fingers get their own post!

Lately the weather's been amazing. It's finally feeling like Spring...So I went with my pastels and brights!

Color Club- Wild Child, Sephora/OPI- It's Hippo to be Square, China Glaze- Fairy Dust

I also used a packing sponge....
All I got to say is....
Dear Sam from Nailsaurus....you've created a monster....(see her tutorial here)

...a gradient monster...

*RAAAAWWWWWRRRRRR*

This colour combination reminds me of Little Mermaid...
*hence the title*

Anyway, I'm so in love with this gradient....and this technique....

GUH...

Have a good weekend, everyone!!

Pebbles & Leopard

Happy hump day, everyone!!
Today's nails consist of shades of purple, leopard RAWR, and love.

This was inspired by this Mani Meuse post on Tumblr

I fell in love with the colour combination, and the prints, I figured I'd recreate them on my nails!
To achieve my look, I used the following:

OPI- Skull & Glossbones, Sephora/OPI- It's Hippo To Be Square, Rimmel- Wild Orchid, and purple acrylic paint

Also, out of the 10 tip sizes my dotting tool set came with, none of them were small enough to achieve this.
So I got creative and made this:
Why yes, that is a needle taped to a q-tip...lol

I then put a layer of China Glaze's Fairy Dust on my accent finger....

But I changed my mind because it didn't look as cool as I thought it would...
So I redid it, and changed it back to just a clear coat over top....

Fun times!! =D

Have a good Wednesday, lovers!

RAWR SHOP- Cosmic Pink Nails aka. SQUEE!

Impromptu visits by Dani @ Call It Beauty are always fun.
She was supposed to come over to watch Tangled with me last night...but we ended up doing THIS!

We had no idea what we were going to do going in....except for one thing:
We're going to use China Glaze's- Fairy Dust.
It was a unanimous decision that it looks best over black, so we went ahead with it.
and then we saw this picture:

I downloaded this app on my phone called "Nail Art" (don't laugh at me)
It displays random pictures of nail art....and provides hours of fun.

SO! To achieve this look, I used the following:

Revlon- Bubble Gum, Rimmel- Black Satin, China Glaze- Fairy Dust

Since I have the Sponging Queen over, I took a lesson from her on sponging.
This was definitely a joint effort!
After the sponging, we decided to put a coat of Fairy Dust on top.
LOOK. AT. THIS. GRADIENT!

So Dani and I SQUEE'd through the whole thing. I'm not sure if the chemicals smell  from the polish had anything to do with it. But we were UBER excited to say the least.

*sigh*
AHLUVET! AHLUVET! AHLUVET!

Thank you for letting me play with your nails, once again.
You're the best <3
