Swatched- OPI's Every Month Is Oktoberfest

HAPPY FRIDAY!!
Today I have a gorgeous swatch of  OPI's Every Month Is Oktoberfest from their German Collection.
I don't own too many OPI polishes, but when I saw this, I knew I just GOT to have it!

I'm sure you've seen gazillions of swatches out there on this polish already...
but it's so beautiful, I had to blog about it....lol

Every Month Is Oktoberfest is a rich, vampy polish that makes my Autumn loving heart sing.
It has a royal blue/purple base, packed with an abundance amount of burgundy shimmers.
Don't believe me? Look!

I was thoroughly amused by the fact how the blue comes out when the light shines through.
GUH...I just can't get enough of this colour!!

Well played, OPI!! I'm a fan...you win at life.
But of course, I couldn't just swatch a polish and not do anything with it...right? Right!
I went with the vampiness of this polish, and ended up with this:

Do you have a favourite from the Germany Collection?
Hope you enjoyed this swatch!

Have an AWESOME weekend, my loves!

...Karma...

Hello my loves!!
If you follow me on Twitter, you would know that I've been super bummed...because my car got broken into last week, and they took ALL my belongings I packed for a weekend trip :(

So this one's for you, car thieves...
Hope you enjoy my pretty clothes and essential makeup I wear everyday...

For this mani, I used the following:
Revlon- Royal
China Glaze- Aquadelic
OPI- Every Month Is Octoberfest

...and this effect top coat from Color Club...
(I forgot to grab the name of it)

I quite like how this turned out, actually....so that's one positive thing out of this whole schlob of unfortunate event.

I hope KARMA finds you....whoever you are....

Have a wonderful day, my loves!

Matte & Gloss

(picture, Y U NO clear?)

Hello my lovely people!
Long time no see! It's THURSDAY!! You know what that means....
Just one more day 'til the weekend arrives! We're almost there, gang!!

You may have noticed that my posts have significantly decreased since school started...
Don't worry, you're not imagining things...to my surprise, school is quite time consuming!
We're going through the theory portion right now so there are a lot of reading, assignments, and tests...
I guess we can say I'm feeling a little overwhelmed...
All is well though, I believe that I will eventually find the balance between a full time job, school and blogging!

Moving on!!
Today, I have a matte and gloss combo mani to show you.

I used NYC's Matte Me Crazy top coat, Manhattan, and Rimmel London's Black Satin
...I also dotted on some Penny Talk from Essie...
(not shown in picture)

I was originally wanting to mimic the crocodile skin finish...
but it didn't turn out the way I envisioned it to be... I think if my glossy blobs were smaller it'd be better...
NEXT TIME!

For that reason, I decided to change up the design for the burgundy fingers.
I'm quite happy with them :)

This NYC mattifying top coat is probably the best one I've come across...other than the Butter London one of course...that top coat...I can't even......
Speaking of which, I can't wait until my Butter London order arrives!!
*excitement dance*
Anyway, that's all for me today! Hope you enjoy today's mani as much as I did!

Have a fantastic day, everyone!!

Egypt Inspired Mani & Nail School Wk 1

Hello loves! HAPPY FRIDAY!
As you know, I started my Nail Technology program this week...
So I thought I'd share my weekly experience with you!

This week, we covered topics like history, and time management skills.
We were assigned an essay about how the ancient civilization affected the world of Cosmetology.
I picked the Egyptians-- hence today's mani!

Long story short, red nails were popular, they really loved themselves, and Cleopatra is awesome.
I know I'm so great at essays. lol.

For this mani-
I used Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Guilty Pleasure and All Fired Up. As well as Rimmel London's Black Satin, and acrylic paint for the rest.

Skill-wise, we practised on polish application...
Apparently when you do the certifying exam, you have to paint VERY CLOSE to the cuticles...
This is news to me as I often leave at least 1mm on all edges...call it personal preference?
Anyway! I have to work on perfecting this skill because I have to be PRO!
We also started doing French Manicures!

It feels good to learn things the proper way
:)

Anyhoo, that's all for me today.
Have a wonderful weekend, lovers!

Transitioning into Autumn with Essie's Penny Talk

LONG TIME NO SEE!!
I was gone for a whole entire week, tell me you missed me!

I was sick all last week, so I focused on getting better!
This week, I'm back feeling MUCH healthier...

I'm sad to inform you that Summer is officially over...well at least here in Vancouver it is.
It's dark in the morning when I wake up, and I'm ready to slip into my scarf and sweater.
So today, I've decided to do an Autumn mani using Essie's Penny Talk.

From the Mirrored Metallics Collection, Penny Talk is perhaps the nicest metallic finish I've ever encountered...
It applies smoothly, dries to literally a mirrored finish.... almost like brushed metal.
I do have to say though, I prefer this polish without a topcoat.
The mirror effect gets lost when you slap on the clear topcoat for some reason.

My favourite is my stupid finger....(pointing finger)
The birds make me happy :)

I'm pretty obsessed with this colour....okay fine, I like this whole entire collection.
I may or may not want to pick up the rest....

PS.
I know I've been doing the countdown for a while now....but.....
TODAY IS MY FIRST NAIL SCHOOL DAY!!!!!
I was so excited about the first day of school, I had trouble sleeping last night...
What am I, 7?

...yes...

Wish me luck!
Have a good day, my lovelies :D
