Egypt Inspired Mani & Nail School Wk 1

Hello loves! HAPPY FRIDAY!
As you know, I started my Nail Technology program this week...
So I thought I'd share my weekly experience with you!

This week, we covered topics like history, and time management skills.
We were assigned an essay about how the ancient civilization affected the world of Cosmetology.
I picked the Egyptians-- hence today's mani!

Long story short, red nails were popular, they really loved themselves, and Cleopatra is awesome.
I know I'm so great at essays. lol.

For this mani-
I used Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Guilty Pleasure and All Fired Up. As well as Rimmel London's Black Satin, and acrylic paint for the rest.

Skill-wise, we practised on polish application...
Apparently when you do the certifying exam, you have to paint VERY CLOSE to the cuticles...
This is news to me as I often leave at least 1mm on all edges...call it personal preference?
Anyway! I have to work on perfecting this skill because I have to be PRO!
We also started doing French Manicures!

It feels good to learn things the proper way
:)

Anyhoo, that's all for me today.
Have a wonderful weekend, lovers!

RAWR Shop- 5 Years of Cuteness

Happy hump day, lovers and friends!!
Yesterday I brought the RAWR Shop to a very special girl who's turning 5 this weekend.

When I whipped out my kit, her eyes lit up like a Christmas tree...it was an explosion of cute.
Without any hesitation, she immediately decided that she wants PINK and GLITTER BOMBS.
Perfect.

So I layered on Color Club's Electro Candy and Claire's Candy Shop

Then we moved on to her toes:
This is Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear's Red Carpet, and a white nail art polish for the dots.
We had to redo this pedi several times because she was itchy....haha

Just when I thought we were done....she started mumbling and said
"what if...what if....we put all tha different colours on all of the 10 hands on my fingers"

10 hands on your fingers? I asked.

"YEA! THIS ONE AND THIS ONE AND THIS AND THIS AND THIS!!!!"
She got way more excited. hehehe

I was pretty surprised because she knew exactly what colour and design she wanted on each finger.
Yup. Young Nail Artist in training.

Her mom asked her why she didn't keep it the way it was before since it looked WAY nicer...
"But mom...I LOVE this...." She looked up with the biggest grin on her face.

How do you say no after THAT comment?????????
*melts*

THIS- is the face of a satisfied 5 year old to be.

After we were done. She said to me that she wants a different colour next year.
I'm apparently booked a year in advance for her 6th birthday. HAHA!!

Then when I packed up, she puts her hand on my kit and said:
"Aunty Winnie....can you give this to me when I'm 10? I wanna be like you"

night = MADE
...annnnnd....que heart explosion...

So here they are, her awesome everything!

Happy Birthday, pretend daughter.

RAWR Shop- Galaxy Nails

Hello lovers! Happy Wednesday! 2 more sleeps til LONG WEEKEND!!
Today we have another RAWR Shop customer!

Stephanie (@MissyInAction87) came in knowing what she wants. Galaxy nails, what a great choice!
The only other time I've done it was on my own nails for the 30 day challenge. But I'm quite happy with the way these nails turned out and their galactic qualities.

I sponged on multiple layers on my Rimmel London- Black Satin including:
White/Silver/Blue Acrylic paint
Sally Hansen's Blue It mixed in with Midnight Sky
and finished off with OPI DS Magic <-how can you not?

I also dotted on some Color Club's Beyond the Mistletoe for the star effect.
Steph only wanted China Glaze's Fairy Dust on her ring fingers, because the galaxy isn't always sparkly
Makes perfect sense to me!!

It's hard not to get lost in these....don't you think? lol Thanks for dropping by The RAWR Shop, Steph!
Enjoy your galaxy nails!!

Have the most fabulous day, folks!

INSA Nail Art Contest (picture heavy)

Hi lovers!

What do you get when INSA get together with Sophy Robson and Nail Porn?
A nail art contest!!
(Read more about INSA and the contest here )

Today, I want to share with you my entry for the INSA nail art contest.
I'm quite proud of the outcome :)

Here are the pictures that inspired my designs:

To achieve the designs, I used the following:

XXI- Silver Specks, Beige, Silver
Sally Hansen- Midnight Sky
Magic Nail- White
Acrylic Paint- Purple & Red

Missing in picture:
Wet n Wild- Black Creme

Here's some more shots of the design.

IN OTHER NEWS...

If you're a regular visitor of RRRawr//NAILed- you may have noticed that my nails grew over night...
WHY YES!
I had the pleasure to meet the very talented Denise from Deez Nails who is currently studying to be a Kickass Nail Artist here in Vancouver! Make sure you check out her tumblr site here!
We got together on Tuesday, and she put gel stiletto nails on me

LOOK HOW PRETTY THEY ARE!!

Unfortunately I had to trim it WAY down...because it was too fabulous for an office environment.
So what you see now is the toned down version...
It makes me sad that I can't have long RAWR nails....but I guess you gotta do what you gotta do.

I really really hope my designs do well in the competition...

:D Here's to hoping!!

That's all for me today, folks!
Have a wonderful day!

Black & Gold Randoms

Hello my loves, and we're back to regular programming!
Thanks for putting up with my Canucks antics.

I don't know when or how, I became a sucker for random nail designs.
...and to be honest, I'm not exactly sure what I would categorize today's mani under...
Easter egg hunt? 300? Tribal? I don't know.

This was inspired by the Tikipali design by SUPA NAILS.
After freaking out over this design yesterday...I decided to build from what she had.

(source: Tikipali by Supa Nails)

I know...the design on mine is no where even close to the detail she had on hers...
But I'm really digging the orange accent nail... oh and this just in...I NEED BIGGER NAILS!

So for this mani, I used the following:
Sally Hansen- Guilty Pleasure
Wet n' Wild- Black Creme
NYC- Times Square

and a black nail art pen from Sally Hansen
(I'm not really happy with the way this goes on existing polishes....I think this'll be the last time I use it for nail art)

Here's a closer look at each finger.
Black and gold (and orange) go SO WELL together...don't you think?

Anyhoo, that's it for me today!

Hope you enjoyed today's mani!!

Canucks Nails- Game 4 Set

Hello my lovelies!!
I'm writing this blog post on the edge of my seat...
Today we find out whether I'll cry or cheer for the rest of the playoff season...

I was really hesitant on doing Canucks Nails today...
The first two sets of nails I did, we lost. So on the 3rd game, I decided NOT to do my nails....
...and we still lost...

So it was suggested that for game 4 I do half and half...because...
Negative + Negative = POSITIVE!!
Right? Right!

I went with the simple frenchies...with a splash of *fabulous*
I used the following polishes:
XXI- Silver...or as I'd like to call it STANLEY CUP SILVER
Sally Hansen- Blue It
Magical Nail- Teal Tale & White

Look at the silver specks, they have holographic features!!
They almost look like diamonds....in the sky....

Anyhow, that's all for me today! Hope you enjoyed this mani!!

PS
GO CANUCKS GO!
